The dogs of the world met in Stockholm at the Greatest Dog Show in the World!

Friday, August 29th, 2008

In the beginning of July, a wonderful event was held in Stockholm - World Dog Show 2008! Our small team was present as well and at last, we are eager to tell you all about it!

To be more precise, pictures will have the power to describe that great show the best. But still, our team would like to share our own thrills and highlights from that trip to Sweden!

The place where the show was taking place was just enormous and at first, it actually swept all of us off our feet! And wow, how many beautiful dogs there were!? As you can see from the gallery, we saw absolutely all kinds of dogs there - long-haired, short-haired, very fast and also sleepy ones, bitty and dancing ones, chalky and coal black, more or less simple and glamorous ones! So we just could not get enough from taking photographs and so we went on and on… We got many new friends and met a super huge amount of new friendly dogs and their owners and of course the team of Uniteddogs members was not missing this event eather - UDC greetings to all of you! ;)

After a while we were lucky to upload these pictures and now we want to take you on tour to have fun and enjoy this dog-heavenly event over here! You can see the pictures in the Gallery at Photos section as well!

Let’s welcome UDC’s first four-legged member on board!

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Have you been thinking that UDC is great but something is still missing? Absolutely! We felt the same way and now have improved our team with Riki (Maffi´s Voiton Oiva).

He is our most popular member - 9 weeks old Estonian Hound boy, born in Finland where he enjoyed his life at the countryside among his 7 siblings! Today, our little buddy has been lucky to sail over the sea to Estonia and in the last days been busy with settling in at our office next to his daddy Ragnar. UDC team has also generated a couple of assignments for Riki - he is best at chewing toys, scrabbling bumper bags, licking others’ toes, having a cute look and making therefore everybody else smile and of course eating and sleeping.

You can meet our Riki here!

UDC is conquering the world!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

ZDF, main news service in Germany published an article about UDC conquering the world!

On 4th of August an article about our popular websites was published by ZDF at it’s online release Heute.de. Lauri Laineste, dog Florida and Reimo Tamm

The article introduces Uniteddogs.com and Unitedcats.com as sites connecting many cat and dog owners who love their best friends and are eager to present their loved ones all over the world!

Roxana Mendiola alias „rOcO“ tells her story of UDC becoming her lifestyle – her dogs Jerry, Whisky and Kobe receive up to eight friendship inquiries every day on the Uniteddogs.com. In the beginning, it all started out as an amusing gag but now has become an important part of her everyday life.

„I check my dogs sites more often than my own profile on other sites,“ she says. Jerry, one of her three dogs, already has more than hundred friends. For example Cocker Spaniel, Poodle, Pekingese and many other dog breeds. As well as on other online sites for people, these animal friends are also located around the world: in the USA, Europe and South America. „The dogs are delighted by the idea of their pictures on the web and they are always ready to pose for some new profile photos,“ says „rOcO“. - This is where our UDC team sends our best regards to „rOcO“ and her dogs! ;)

The article also explaines that Uniteddogs.com and Unitedcats.com create a perfect atmosphere for users to make new friends and look for people they have something in common. „The users meet here other people who are just as crazy as themselves for their four-legged darlings,“ says our Project Manager Lauri Laineste in the article.

In addition to that extraordinary love that users have for their animals, UDC also wants to make this world a better place for everyone and this is by cooperating with shelters. As it is very important for UDC to have positive effect outside the virtual borders too. For example, on UDC’s Estonian site users can already find a database of dogs and cats who are accommodated at the shelters of Estonia. This sure is a project which UDC wants to expand to other countries in the future as well.

However, also users themselves are engaged organising so-called summer days for Uniteddogs.com users and there are many dog owners who happen to live in the nearby and decide to get together and take walks with their dogs just to let them play and get to know each other better.

The web pages Uniteddogs.com and Unitedcats.com are a part of the Estonian Internet-Start-Ups UDC that is also dealing with animal rights. In the beginning of this year there was about 20,000 pets registered on this site. This number increased five times in only six months. About one thousand four-legged friends are represented from Germany.

As UDC is working as one big happy family, we would like to say many thanks to all our users and moderators for making our sites run admirably! :)

We had a successful photocontest!

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Last week we finally put up the results for our Photocontest. We had the contest on 4 language versions of Unitedcats and Uniteddogs - on English, Spanish, Dutch and Croatian pages. All together more than 15000 pictures were uploaded. Our users were the ones who gave their grades for best ones and this way we could choose 25 best pictures for each catrgory.

We had 2 different themes, so users could have opportunity to enter either with their small Puppy under “Puppylove” or show interesting pics under “Uniteddogs Most funniest pics“.

On cat site there were same categories and named: “Kittylove” and “Unitedcats most funniest pics“.

Thousands of wonderful pictures entered in the contest, we never thought there would be so many. We thank all the users who took part of the contest and gave their votes. Please clap to each other, to celebrate the successful contest.

Now we have 400 wonderful pictures that we will use on our brand new Widgets. We are already making them and we know that you will definitely like them ;)
